Dankort - the saga continues

Well. Where do I start? They sent me out the forms to sign, I signed them and sent them back. The card arrived in the mail yesterday. Fantasic! Except that it is another f--kng useless MasterCard WITHOUT a chip in it! I feel like blowing my brains out. It's like the quest for the Holy Grail trying to get a DanKort. [sob]

That's odd. I got my Dankort (with chip) few days after opening my account here. No hassle. As a matter of fact, I replaced my Dankort several months ago due to fear of fraud after I recently returned from my home country. The new card appeared magically in my mailbox only a week after.

Maybe it's your bank?

Did you really? Wow, I must be a real loser then!! :( I don't know what the problem is but I hope it works out soon.

The way I’ve been handling these things is to keep going in person, to the same person at the bank. Forget phone calls and letters (my husband’s application for a company credit card for one of the biggest companies in DK was *regrettably* denied – a company credit card!). When I walk into the bank – my buddy Lasse sees me from his desk and he comes on over to help me.

Actually, whenever I've gone into my branch, they've been exceedingly helpful and friendly. The trouble is, because of their opening hours I can rarely get there so I'm at the mercy of telephone banking :(

I can't believe that about the company credit card! LOL

I ordered the VISA Dankort from the danske bank site by specifying my CPR . later i get one conirmation mail (a personal email from a danske bank employee) and i get the card after a few days .

it was smooth .. the card with chip has more advantages . I think that is becoming a standard in the EU .. e.g i used that in the Paris airport without any issues ..all the ppl with swipe cards were looking a bit annoyed over there also!

Half your luck Riddler! I have no idea why we had so much trouble but I am simply glad it's over. And you're right: it makes life quite liveable with one.

you are three quarter dansk if you have a Dankort! :D

i sometimes think , the entering the four digit code and pressing "godkend" is the most "done" activity in DK esp in the evenings!

And Danske bank , it is one of the best that i have banked with . well .perhaps it is just relative . I come from india where such services are notoriously cumbersome and user un-friendly :)

Good luck with your VISA Dankort .. happy "godkendin"!!!

:)
